At The Plastic Flamingo (The Plaf), we have always believed that solving the plastic crisis requires looking at the bigger picture. It is not just about clearing waste from our oceans and streets; it is about rewriting what happens to that waste afterwards, and, crucially, uplifting the people who make that transformation possible.
As of June 2026, we are proud to share that our cumulative collections have surpassed 1.4 million kilograms of plastic waste since we began our journey in 2018.
In the second quarter of 2026, our facility operated at full capacity to turn this mountain of waste into real, tangible social and economic solutions. Here is a look back at what we achieved together over the last three months.
Behind the Innovations: Circular Solutions Addressing Real Needs
We don't recycle just for the sake of recycling. Our product development is laser-focused on addressing the unique geographical, logistical, and developmental challenges of the Philippines.
Plaf School Chairs: Designed to tackle both plastic pollution and the persistent school chair shortages across the country. By the end of Q2, our partners had successfully distributed 6,355 recycled school chairs to classrooms in Luzon and Mindanao.
Circular Pallets: The Philippines is an archipelagic nation, meaning our logistics and shipping demands are immense. Our robust Circular Pallets provide a durable, sustainable alternative to wood or virgin plastic pallets, preventing deforestation and reducing carbon footprints in the supply chain.
Eco-boards & rHDPE Granules: These form the bedrock of our circular economy. Our 100% recycled Eco-boards serve as a versatile construction canvas, while our high-quality recycled HDPE Granules offer local manufacturers a reliable alternative to virgin plastic resins.

Our second quarter aligned perfectly with Brigada Eskwela (National Schools Maintenance Week), the Department of Education's (DepEd) annual push to rehabilitate public school classrooms. Several of our incredible corporate partners stepped up to donate Plaf School Chairs to schools in urgent need:

Advancing Policy & Traceability at the EPR Forum
As a leader in the recycling space, policy compliance and data integrity are key pillars of our operations.
DENR Solid Waste Management Multi-Sector Convergence (April 15): We joined the Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) to showcase our circular innovations and reflect on the national progress of the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act (RA 9003) and the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) Act (RA 11898).
PARMS EPR Forum (April 23): Panelist representatives from The Plaf spoke alongside the DENR on the critical role of data integrity, highlighting how our rigorous traceability processes are vital for companies aiming for EPR compliance.
Activating Youth Culture at Fusion 2026
In an exciting cultural partnership, we teamed up with Praxis Experiential for Fusion: The Philippine Music Festival 2026. By integrating sustainability messages, displaying physical Plaf products, and screening educational videos directly to thousands of young OPM (Original Pilipino Music) fans, we planted seeds of sustainable habits in the minds of the demographic that will shape our future.
Educating Corporate Teams on Plastic Reductions
On April 28, we joined First Gen Renewables for their World Day for Safety & Health at the Workplace. We hosted an interactive session on the "Practical Steps for Reducing Single-use Plastic at Work," empowering their corporate team to actively reduce waste and support local recycling pathways.
