Celebrating International Day of Education through a School Chair Donation
By: The Plastic Flamingo — Juliette Dastre-Vigne
On the 24th International Day of Education, we are reminded that education is a fundamental human right and a powerful driver of social change. Beyond access to schools and curricula, quality education also depends on safe, dignified, and supportive learning conditions that allow students to focus, engage, and thrive.
This message strongly resonates with The Plaf’s mission. By transforming plastic waste into 100% recycled school chairs, The Plaf tackles plastic pollution while supporting access to quality education. On this International Day of Education, this initiative reaffirms the importance of creating learning environments that empower students and uphold their right to learn with dignity.
A Meaningful Donation in Cavite
As part of the celebration of International Day of Education, The Plaf donated 31 school chairs to Cavite Naic National High School, located in Cavite.
The donation was formally received by Mr. Wilbert Soriano, School Head of Cavite Naic National High School, whose commitment to improving the school environment plays a key role in supporting both teachers and students. This moment of exchange highlighted the importance of collaboration between educational institutions and social enterprises working toward shared goals.
By providing durable, 100% recycled school chairs, this donation directly contributes to creating a more comfortable, stable, and dignified learning environment for students. Proper seating supports concentration, well-being, and engagement in the classroom, helping students focus on what truly matters: learning and growing through education.
A Donation made possible by our Fundraising
This donation was made possible thanks to The Plaf’s December fundraising campaign, which brought together a community of individuals committed to supporting both education and environmental action. Through collective effort and shared values, this campaign turned generosity into tangible impact for students in Cavite.
Every contribution, regardless of its size, played a meaningful role in making this donation a reality. This collective support reflects the power of community-driven initiatives and demonstrates how small actions, when combined, can lead to significant change on the ground.
Thank You to our Donors
We would like to express our deepest gratitude to all our donors who supported the December fundraising campaign. Your generosity and trust made this donation possible and turned a shared vision into real impact for students at Cavite Naic National High School.
Every contribution played an essential role in the production and delivery of these 31 school chairs. Each donation helped move the project forward and proved that meaningful change is built through collective effort.
Looking Ahead: Our Goal of 1,000 School Chairs
This donation is one step toward a larger ambition: to donate a total of 1,000 school chairs to schools in need. Scaling our impact is essential to reach more students, improve learning conditions across more classrooms, and ensure that quality education is supported by dignified and sustainable infrastructure.
You can be part of this journey. By supporting The Plaf through a donation, you directly contribute to transforming plastic waste into meaningful educational impact. Every donation brings us one step closer to our goal of 1,000 school chairs, helping create lasting change through collective action, for education, for sustainability, and for future generations.
