About the Partnership

Mondelēz International aims to empower people to snack right by offering them the right snack, for the right moment, made the right way. Known for their biscuits and chocolates, the company seeks to improve the feeling of consumers towards snacking.

More than its success in global markets, Mondelēz International commits itself to leave a positive impact on the world while driving business performance. Through its core values of sustainable and mindful snacking, the company uses these as foundations of creating their snacks the right way.

With sustainability as part of its core, the company acknowledges that the world is facing some of the largest societal issues in history; one of which is the global environmental crisis in plastic pollution. As such, Mondelēz International remains committed to endure a positive change in the world and in the communities they operate in.

Sharing the same core of leaving a lasting impact by solving the society’s problems, Mondelēz International partnered with The Plastic Flamingo to fight plastic pollution through an Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) program which was funded through the company’s Sustainable Futures Platform. This initiative by the snacking company aims to “incubate, finance and build partnerships in the impact investment space through co-funded climate projects and a new social venture fund, alongside a modified corporate foundation focused on humanitarian aid only” in order to pave the way for a sustainable society.

Since 2020, the snacking company is an active partner of the social enterprise. Through a collection partnership, the company helped The Plastic Flamingo recycle 62 metric tons of post-consumer plastic waste collected from various communities which made the partnership a collaborative effort in saving the environment.

Mondelēz International also partnered with The Plastic Flamingo to donate furniture made of Eco-lumbers. These aim to benefit Parañaque City visitors and residents through the bike rack, bench, cube, picnic table, and dining set that were all made from 100% post-consumer waste plastic.

Mondelēz International and The Plastic Flamingo remain to be active in partnering to create a more sustainable future. Given this, the snacking company and the social enterprise look forward to more opportunities where both can be active players in freeing the environment from mismanaged plastic wastes.
