Charter Next Generation, Inc.

The partnership with Charter Next Generation, Inc. promotes the participation of people from low-income families by helping The Plastic Flamingo expand its workforce.

Charter Next Generation, Inc. (CNG) is the leading independent producer of high-performance specialty films used in flexible packaging in North America. The company produces blown, cast, and barrier solutions that are ideal for food, consumer, industrial, healthcare, and other protective applications. With the awareness of the global environmental crisis in plastic pollution, CNG commits itself to sustainable solutions with a promise to operate lean and design for safety and recyclability.

CNG believes in a better way—a mindset of continuous improvement which allows the company to invest in the most advanced technologies, quality people, and nurture a collaborative environment. While CNG finds a better way, the company also highlights flexibility as part of its core by adapting to the changing forces and seeking out innovative solutions.

In line with their goals, the company partnered with The Plastic Flamingo to carry out a mission on saving the oceans by collecting and recycling post-consumer plastic wastes and preventing them from continuously becoming a damaging threat for the environment. This partnership aims to promote awareness and leave a maximum social impact in reducing marine plastic pollution.

Since April 2022, the North American specialty films company committed to a three-year Corporate Producer Responsibility (CSR) program through participating in recycling initiatives in the Philippines. The said partnership includes collection compensations for 300 metric tons of plastic waste (100 tons of plastic wastes per year) in the span of  three years. These collected plastics will be used to create The Plastic Flamingo’s eco-boards and eco-lumbers.

Apart from collection compensations, the specialty films company also sponsored seven (7) social jobs which helped expand The Plastic Flamingo’s workforce as well as its adherence to Sustainable Development Goals by providing opportunities for low-income families. Moreover, CNG also sponsored the social enterprise’s warehouse development which allowed The Plastic Flamingo to expand and increase storage racks and sheds as well as develop a more efficient sorting line.

CNG also invested in The Plastic Flamingo’s research and development which allows the exploration of other applications of recycled products in various industries.
