3M PHILIPPINES (THRU PBSP)

3M company also known as Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing Company, diversified American corporation manufacturing a wide range of products, including abrasives, adhesive tape, and related products, and consumer-electronics components. Over the years, through technological advancement and scientific development, 3M became popular worldwide as they developed new products beneficial for the life of each individual and business.

Today, homes, businesses, schools, hospitals, and other industries use more than 60,000 3M products. With corporate offices in 70 nations and operations in 200, 3M is dedicated to developing products and technologies that progress every business, beautify every home, and enhance every person's quality of life.

3M being committed to advancement, sustainability, and efficiency developed a program named 3Mgives it enhances people’s lives and creates sustainable communities. This program has three main areas of focus; these are education, community, and the environment.

With the environment being one of the main focuses of the 3Mgives program, they invest in initiatives that promote a more sustainable environment and seek to address some of the most significant issues confronting the world. In line with this, 3M thru Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP), a business-led social development organization committed to poverty reduction, pledged to support The Plastic Flamingo Plastic Waste Management project. They grant sponsorship to provide support for efforts to increase the collection and recycling of plastic, reduce the plastic waste going to and polluting oceans, as well as to improve the income from waste-picking as a livelihood.

Additionally, to reduce marine plastic pollution, 3M and The Plaf work together to redirect, collect and recycle plastic waste going to the ocean. The Plaf will be in charge of managing community waste pickers' collection activities as well as collecting plastic waste from its customary collection locations. Additionally, the extra funding made available by this project would encourage people to adopt waste picking as a habit. With better methods that integrate collection sites and neighborhood communities, their goal is to gather at least 32 metric tons of plastic waste. To make this project more successful, 3M provides tri bikes and vitamins for eight community waste pickers, last October 20, 2022. These tri bikes will be used to collect waste around The Plaf’s vicinity. The collected waste will be compensated allowing them to provide additional income for their family.

Through the improvement and sustainability of the community's Solid Waste Management (SWM) system, our collaboration aims to improve local livelihoods while safeguarding the environment. Additionally, this will be consistent with 3M's dedication to a science-based, team-based approach to resolving common global concerns and bettering lives. Our strategy framework focuses our efforts on areas that are certain to have a significant influence during this critical period for our planet. The respective businesses commit to working together to realize the goals of recovering plastic trash and to keep striving to build a more sustainable future.
